Applied Maths Seminar: Fleming -- Deterministic homogenisation with rates

Nicholas Fleming-Vazquez (UNSW) will be giving a seminar on Wednesday 23 September in
Carslaw 451 at 12pm. Afterwards we will go to lunch- all welcome, students get a free
lunch.

Title: Deterministic homogenisation with rates

Abstract: We discuss homogenisation (convergence to a stochastic differential equation)
for fast-slow systems where the fast dynamics is given by a deterministic chaotic flow.
Kelly and Melbourne used rough path theory to prove homogenisation follows from certain
statistical properties for the fast flow. In the case of multiplicative noise, we build
on their approach to obtain convergence rates for homogenisation in the Wasserstein
metric. This is joint with Ian Melbourne and Nicolò Paviato.
