Applied Maths Seminar: Han -- The variable order fractional diffusion equation

Daniel Han (UNSW) will come and give a seminar on Wednesday 13 May at 1pm in Carslaw
451.  Afterwards we will invite him to lunch (1-2pm), all welcome and students get a
free lunch.  

Title: The variable order fractional diffusion equation 

Abstract: This seminar will present a derivation of the variable order time-fractional
diffusion equation from the diffusion limit of a random walk, its asymptotic solution
and its exact solution in Laplace space.  The asymptotic first passage time statistics
will also be derived, showing the strange appearance of a logarithmic correction
factor.
