SMRI Summer School 2027
Rigidity, Geometry, Dynamics
Rigidity, Geometry, Dynamics: Farb, Reid, Wilkinson
We are pleased to announce the inaugural SMRI Summer School: Rigidity, Geometry, Dynamics, which will take place at the Sydney Mathematical Research Institute (SMRI, The University of Sydney, Australia) from 18 – 29 January 2027.
Benson Farb, Alan Reid and Amie Wilkinson will deliver courses inspired by dynamics and low-dimensional geometry and topology. Participants are recommended to choose one course to focus on intensely throughout the period, with the option to follow a second course.
The three courses are as follows:
- "Profinite rigidity and Grothendieck Pairs" by Alan Reid (Rice University)
- "Algebraic geometry from a topological viewpoint" by Benson Farb (University of Chicago)
- "Symmetry in dynamics" by Amie Wilkinson (University of Chicago)
Participation and Registration: The website is now live, more detailed information and registration can be found here.
Financial Support: SMRI will offer some funding in the form of accommodation and travel support. There are a limited number of places, more information can be found on the website.
Deadline for funding requests: 20 September 2026. Funding application and registration link can be found here.
Please share SMRI Summer School with any students, postdocs and others who may be interested. A poster can be downloaded here.
