SUMS: Zhang -- The inner workings of JPEG

In the digital world JPEG has become synonymous with photographs.  It is capable of
achieving high compression with little perceived detriment in image quality, despite
being lossy.  The compression method uses knowledge about the physiology of the human
eye as well as some mathematics, and we will explore a bit of both in this talk.
