Title: GSPT meets TF: An unexpected couple!
Abstract: In classical thermodynamic formalism (TF), the transition to zero temperature
is fundamentally a problem of selection. As thermal noise vanishes, the unique
finite-temperature Gibbs measure collapses onto a potentially highly degenerate simplex
of energy-maximizing ground states. While traditional methods treat this
zero-temperature limit statically, i.e., relying on large deviation theory and
probabilistic concentration, we aim to recast the selection process dynamically as a
continuous, singularly perturbed flow.
However, as this journey will explore, attempting to build this geometric singular
perturbation theory (GSPT) framework reveals a host of profound analytical and
topological obstacles that must be systematically overcome on the way to the
thermodynamic limit. Please join and support me as we embark on this journey in two
parts over the coming weeks!
Part 1: August 20th 4-5pm
