Computational Algebra Seminar: Taylor -- Quaternionic Reflection Groups in Magma

Speaker: Don Taylor (Sydney, Magma)
Title: Quaternionic Reflection Groups in Magma
Time & Place: 15:00-16:00, Thursday 10 April, SMRI Seminar Rm
Abstract:
In 1980 Arjeh Cohen published the classification of the finite quaternionic
reflection groups. A notable example is the three-dimensional quaternionic
representation of the double cover of the Hall-Janko group.

In recent years the connection with the generalised McKay correspondence and
symplectic resolutions of quotient singularities has sparked renewed interest
in these groups.

In this talk I will give an outline of the classification and discuss to what
extent the theory of euclidean and complex reflection groups extends to the
quaternionic case
