Informal Friday Seminar

Speaker: Christian Gaetz, UC Berkeley

Title: What are webs?

Abstract: Webs give a diagrammatic calculus for spaces of U_q(sl_r) tensor invariants.
They were introduced by Kuperberg as a tool for computing quantum link invariants, and
have since found connections and applications to dimer models, cluster algebras, total
positivity, quantum topology, and tableau combinatorics. I will explain what is known
about webs and state several questions and open problems.

Details: The Informal Friday Seminar is a space where members of our research group can
explain interesting things to each other in a casual setting.

The rules of the seminar are the following:

Any question/additional explanation from the audience is allowed.

Ego out the window.

Examples, examples, examples.
