Statistical Experiences in Testing for Growth Hormone Abuse in Sport 

Growth Hormone is believed to be widely abused in sport.  It is a naturally occurring
substance so testing for doping is not the same as detection.  In this talk I will
describe my experiences working with the Garvan Pituitary Research Unit and the World
Anti-Doping Agency, some of which are statistical! We will touch on issues using a
single biomarker (p=1), multiple biomarkers (p=6) and microarray data (p=41,000).  

Biography of Associate Professor Glenn Stone 

Glenn Stone is Associate Professor of Statistics in the School of Computing, Engineering
and Mathematics, University of Western Sydney.  He has worked as an applied statistician
across a range of areas in CSIRO and IAG.  Current research interests include
hyperspectral data, flow cytometry and metagenomics.
